Each New Year brings new beginnings as we set goals and make New Year Resolutions. This year my goal is to write a BLOG.
During the last year following my seminar presentations many audience members have asked me this question – do you have a blog? When I answer NO – they are surprised and disappointed.
So here goes… my attempt at blogging. I will be offering additional insights about personal empowerment, confidence, work/life balance, advocacy and much more. My hope is that together we will learn, grow and feel JOY – gathering information along the way to help us become stronger, more confident and empowered.
New Year Resolutions…Why?
Are you making a New Year Resolution this year?
With each New Year many of us attempt to make New Year Resolutions. Unfortunately within days we find it difficult to make change and so we give up.
The key is in the PLAN. Here are a few ideas to help you set realistic resolutions and to enjoy the journey.
1. Be realistic! Do not set unrealistic goals for yourself. Be practical and set achievable goals. Recognize your limitations and most important - believe in the goal.
2. Focus on ONE goal. Do not make a list of resolutions and try to achieve too much, too quickly. This can be overwhelming and a sure plan for failure. Choose one goal that is obtainable, set a realistic plan and stay focused.
3. Planning is the key! Create a realistic plan that will work for you. Too often the absence of a proper plan creates frustration and failure. Pace yourself, write down your plan and remember to reward yourself for successes.
4. Expect setbacks. How will you deal with setbacks and the temptation to evacuate your plan? Make sure that you have safety nets in place for setbacks. Remember, initially it will be difficult to stick to your plan. A few tips that may help you – get help from a friend or family member, develop a new hobby or passion, share your goal with others and keep reminding yourself about your resolution and the ultimate rewards of success!!
5. Motivate yourself and monitor your progress. Motivation is what fuels your plan and keeps you on track. Stay focused and strong by constantly reminding yourself of the benefits of succeeding in your goal. Remember to reward yourself for the small successes and do not focus on the failures. Understand that is takes time to change habits and lifestyles.
6. Good luck and enjoy the journey! Do not expect instant success. Keep your spirits up and recognize progress and growth comes one step at a time!
Are you motivated to set a New Year Resolution?
