Building
a brick wall takes time, skill and patience. As each brick is cemented into place,
the wall becomes stronger. Learning the necessary skills to build confidence is
much like building a wall. It begins with one brick and is a life-long process.
Building
confidence one brick at a time encourages youth, teens and adults to discover the
following:
· It is important to recognize, admit and learn
from your mistakes.
· Exiting your comfort zone, welcoming new
opportunities and taking risks will help you to achieve better things and meet your
goals.
· It takes courage to make positive choices and
do what is right, even if others criticize you for it.
· Personal esteem increases as you give of your
time through service in your community, church and family.
· Low self-esteem can be destructive and may
prevent forward progression.
· Self-confident individuals believe in
themselves and their abilities to succeed and live life to its fullest.
Building
a brick wall of confidence requires change in perspective, beliefs and
behaviors. Recognize that change is
difficult and setbacks will occur. Altering thoughts and actions will be
challenging. In the end, feelings of success and self-esteem will be worth the
struggles endured through the building process.
