Is Assertive Communication Difficult for You?
-Use assertive body language.  Face to face communication is important, stand or sit straight, keep eye contact and be serious but pleasant.
-Act and speak assertive.  Avoid adding qualifiers to your opinions and feelings.
-Take responsibility for yourself and your actions.  Use "I" statements.                          I feel…  I am…  I want….
-Talk about the problem – not blaming or accusing others.  Focus on the facts.
-Allow time to cool down. Defuse an unproductive outcome.
-Be persistent with your request.  Avoid arguing or being manipulated.
Are you ready to use assertive communication?
