Stuck in the Middle
Do you feel stuck in the middle of your life – unable to move forward?  A lack of motivation and momentum is frustrating and fosters feelings of failure, decreasing personal self-esteem.
Take the time to invest in yourself. Self investment requires individuals to set goals and outline a plan. Forward progression will not happen by standing still – you must take action and get in the race.
The starting line of any race is where participants feel energetic and determined to succeed. Goal setting is similar, it is met with enthusiasm when the plan is set in motion. During the race, runners focus on crossing finish line, anxious to REAP the benefits of achieving their goal. It is during the middle of the race where most runners feel exhausted and begin to lose focus. Achieving goals meet similar frustrations. It is the middle of the process where individuals get bogged down. Running a race and accomplishing goals both require change. The process of making change and altering behavior requires hard work.
Let’s take a look at four ideas to help prevent you from getting “stuck in the middle” of achieving your goal and cashing in on your “payday.”
1.     Poor plan. Is your plan designed for success? Create a plan that is realistic with attainable action steps. If your plan is poorly designed you will have a loss of vision and momentum.
2.     Mindset. Is your mindset positive or negative? You will be unable to move forward with your plan if you are feeling negative. Thoughts affect feelings and feelings promote action. If your mindset is not positive you will not attain your desired goal.
3.     Loss of momentum. Are you “spinning your wheels” and unable to move forward? This may cause you to feel too tired to keep going. A lack of knowledge about your goal may be the problem. Step back and re-evaluate the reasons for accomplishing the goal. Be honest with yourself and ensure that the goal is realistic.
4.     Lack of accountability. Hold yourself accountable. Do not blame others or circumstances for set-backs. Everyone needs to be accountable. Accountability promotes feelings of confidence and self-control.
Motivation is required to successfully set and meet goals. Motivation is not a one-time event it must happen daily. Keep yourself motivated by formulating a solid, attainable plan and believe in your “payday” and options.
Be aware that motivation has its ups and downs. There are two kinds of motivation: positive and negative. Negative motivation breeds feelings of frustration and exhaustion. Do not choose to degrade yourself and others. Negative thoughts and feelings dominate your conversations and plan, your self-esteem will deteriorate and forward progression will cease.
Cultivate growth in yourself each day. Congratulate yourself for small successes. Cultivate positive energy and tap into your resources and strengths. Positive motivation brings success. Finish the race by taking the time to invest in yourself each day!
